Metropolitan Police Service
The Metropolitan Police Service are one of the largest in the UK with the service aiming to prevent and deter crime. They use a range of departments from the Emergency Response Team and Dog Support Unit who deal with any day to day police response jobs to traffic and firearms who deal with specialist calls and incidents that need their knowledge and expertise to crack down on crime.
ERPT are the backbone of the met who deal with calls from minor public disturbances to drug dealing and dangerous people. They use their quick thinking and words to bring a stop and prevent crime.
Firearms use tactics to prevent offensive weapons usage and firearms from being used on the streets of London and also deal with incidents that require critical intervention.
Traffic use powerful cars and legislation to stop county lines drug transportation, stop pursuits and bring illegal vehicles and unlicensed drivers off the road.
Dogs Support Unit who use our K9 companions to stop criminals and find objects that we couldn't find ourselves.
Criminal Investigations Department investigate all sorts of crime from drug related incidents to serial killers and organised crime.
Our subdivisions also uphold the met with our Territorial Support Group combating public order offenses, the Marine Policing Unit stopping crime and aiding people on the water, Counter Terror Specialist Firearms Officers who deal with the most important and serious firearms offences such as terror attacks and critical hostage rescue tactics.
Finally our Control and NPAS departments keeping us running in and around the city with their keen eye and problem solving.
London Fire Brigade
As a member of the London Fire Brigade, you'll be part of a team dedicated to protecting lives and property across the city. Our department handles a wide range of emergencies, from fires to rescues, ensuring that London is a safer place for everyone.
What We Offer:
Respond to fire emergencies throughout the city. Whether it’s a small house fire or a massive blaze in an estate, your quick response and skilful firefighting will save lives and prevent destruction. Use hoses, fire trucks, and other specialised equipment to tackle various incidents
Rescue Operations: Fires are not the only emergencies you will handle - The LFB is trained to deal with a variety of rescue situations, including road traffic accidents, building collapses, and hazardous material spills. Be ready to assist those in need and safely navigate dangerous situations.
Specialised Roles: As you advance within the department, you can take on specialised roles such as USAR, Water Rescue and more! Each role comes with its own set of responsibilities and challenges, allowing you to focus on areas that interest you the most.
Emergency Medical Response: As first responders, firefighters often arrive on the scene before paramedics. You’ll be trained in basic first aid and emergency care, helping to stabilise injured civilians until LAS arrive.
Teamwork & Training: Work closely with your fellow firefighters to ensure that every operation runs smoothly. Participate in regular training exercises to keep your skills sharp and handle complex rescues.
London Ambulance Service
The London Ambulance Service (LAS) is a vital part of the urgent and emergency care system and provides medical care to patients in need within a pre-hospital setting. The London Ambulance Service is responsible for responding to emergency 999 calls and providing medical care to patients across London 24/7, 365 days a year.
The LAS offers a range of services, including:
Responding to emergency calls: The LAS responds to 999 calls 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. On average the LAS responds to a multitude of calls ranging from Home Births to Major RTC and Mass Casualty events.
Providing pre-arranged patient transport: The LAS provides pre-arranged patient transport.
Urgent and Pallative care support: The LAS provides carers and families with extra support in taking care of their loved ones at home.
Dealing with major incidents: The LAS deals with major incidents along side our colleagues in other services.
Infection prevention and control: The LAS ensures that infection prevention and control is maintained by all staff.
The LAS operates across an area of approximately 620 square miles, from Heathrow in the west to Upminster in the east, and from Enfield in the north to Purley in the south.
With no call ever being the same, the LAS utilises specialised divisions and partnerships to deliver quality and effective care, those divisions are:
